If you want to ride in a straight line on a horse that can't think for itself, then don't come to Red Deer River Ranch, a dude ranch in Western Canada. If you want to be matched to a horse that has done some ranch work and is just one of those horses you know you can trust and depend on then this is the dude ranch for you. All of our trail horses are as sure-footed as they are smart. They have demonstrated top-notch trail abilities. One of the most important things here is that each rider is matched to the horse as much as is possible. Same with the tack. We are experienced working cowboys and won't put a 110-pound lady in a saddle built for a 230-pound man. We match you with the animal the way we would our own horses.

The riding area consists of 1,000 acres of private land that is directly connected to over 50,000 acres of grazing land. There are some fenced areas where we ride but most of it is in open forest/range-land. There are more creeks to cross and ride along than you can count, and our dude ranch provides some excellent rides along with the challenge of fording the river and creeks when water levels permit.
